Studio 24 - The Only Place to Dance

Studio 24, located in Canning Vale, Perth, is a leading dance school offering high-quality dance education. Our experienced instructors are passionate about helping students of all ages build confidence, master technique, and enjoy the art of dance.

Our facilities are designed to provide a complete performance education. We have four large, airconditioned, dance studios with sprung floors and full-length mirrors, there is also a dancers' lounge including a kitchen. We even have a fully-stocked dance shop for all our students' needs.

Our diverse range of classes includes various dance and performance styles, constantly updated to reflect the cutting edge of today's music and today's industry demands. Our exclusive learning principles have been developed over many years of involvement in an industry that demands professionalism and discipline from performers. Our successful programs cater for students at all levels. Careful monitoring and assessments by instructors allows for individual progression, to ensure that all our students remain challenged and fulfilled to reach their potential as performers.

We offer term-based courses in each style, as well as select ad-hoc casual classes. Our dance classes range from 30 minutes to one hour in duration, including a 15 minute body conditioning warm up.

Melinda Sweeney

Principal / Director

Melinda started performing at 4 years old and received extensive training in the following specific styles of dance Classical, Jazz Ballet, Tap, American Funk and Hip Hop. Melinda was a professional dancer and choreographer during the entertainment boom of the 80's, working in all facets of the industry.

Melinda started performing at 4 years old and received extensive training in the following specific styles of dance Classical, Jazz Ballet, Tap, American Funk and Hip Hop. Melinda was a professional dancer and choreographer during the entertainment boom of the 80's, working in all facets of the industry.

Melinda studied extensively in Australia and overseas performing with many international entertainers. Working alongside numerous artists such as Kelley Abbey, Jacquie Howard and Matt Lee.

After a successful career Melinda's goals were with developing children who shared the same dreams and passion for performing and entertaining a live audience.

In February 1988 the Just Jazz Talent Company was formed to pass on this knowledge to children, developing their skills and offering opportunities for performance in all levels and styles.

In July 2005, Melinda achieved a major milestone.The Just Jazz Talent Company further diversified and expanded into a new purpose built facility, offering students better programmes and incorporating tuition in the music industry. Studio 24 was born and added another exciting step in the journey.

As the Director of Studio 24 Melinda's main goal is to provide expert Tuition in all Genres of dance,carefully hand picking the best teachers Australia has to offer.

Melinda still enjoys teaching classes, especially the younger dancers as they need a good foundation to start their journey into the world of dance. Choreographing winning dance routines for the Studio 24 Comp Squad is also her passion.

Jessica Ashton

Jessica holds a Certificate IV in Performing Arts from Brent Street Studios in Sydney. Whilst completing full-time dance studies, Jessica worked with countless industry professionals and took classes and workshops with internationally recognised artists.

In 2003, Jessica attended the LA Dance Force workshop and was awarded a Scholarship. She also participates in the Brent Street Summer School in Sydney every January where she received extensive training in all areas of performing arts.

Jessica won the lead role of Dorothy in Willetton Senior High Schools production of The Wizard of Oz in 2005 and was the character Bobby in The New MacDonalds Farm Stage Show which was presented at the Turning on of the Christmas Lights Forrest Place, Perth in 2006.

In 2008, Jessica performed and choreographed with Studio 24 Professional Corporate Shows and was a company member of Steps Youth Dance Company for their June season 'nospace'.

Jessica performed in the Perth Production of the National Candyman Tour at the Regal Theatre. She has also represented EduDance as a teacher in many primary schools across the metro area.

Jessica performed as one of the Perth Glory Cheerleaders in the 2013/2014 season.

Jessica completed her Certificate III an IV in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness and is a fully qualified personal fitness trainer.

In 2017 Jessica toured Australia with 'Infamous' Circus Cabaret as dance captain and co-choreographer.

Jessica teaches Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Song & Dance and Acrobatics and will be leading many of the Comp Squad classes with her award winning choreography.

Jacquie La Roche

Jacquie has been an accredited teacher of Ready Set Dance & Ready Set Ballet since 2018 and added Ready Set Move in 2022 & Ready Set Acro in 2023 (when both programs were created) & continues to participate in yearly training & development to maintain her accreditation.

Jacquie became our Ready Set Coordinator in 2018, helping to develop our incredible Ready Set Team, organise our special events, End of Year Showcase and strives to grow our Ready Set programs for the next generation of dancers, so they can fall in love with dance too.

Lilee Slobe

Lilee has been training at Studio 24 since 2009 in Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Ballet and Lyrical.

She has been apart of Comp Squad and competing in troupes for many years.

Amy Sefton

Amy joined Studio 24 2009 at age 3 and has since trained in all genres of dance.

Caris Holroyd

Caris wants to share her knowledge of dance with her students and see their passion grow.

From February 2018 – December 2019, Caris completed her AdvancedDiploma in Performing Arts, majoring in Dance at Principal Academy of Dance and Theatre Arts.

Throughout her studies Caris continued to find professional work, starring in the ECU campaign,‘One World’, performing for Crown on New Years Eve 2019 and most recently performing in the Crowns ‘Christmas Spectacular’.

Caris also works in schools with the Edu Dance program offering her amazing training and a differentapproach behaviour and classroom management skills.

Elysha Atwell

Elysha has trained at Studio 24 for 20 years and studied Specialist Dance at John Curtin College of the Arts. After graduating, she signed with KRAVE Perth Dance agency and secured her first overseas contract for Resorts World Genting in Malaysia.

In both 2020 & 2021 Jordan performed as part of our exclusive Tigerettes cheerleaders for the Willetton Tigers SBL teams. In 2022 and 2023 Jordan performed at the Perth Royal Show with the incredible Circus Joseph Ashton.

Jordan has also had the opportunity to support several private functions as a backup showgirl dancer such as Gary Anderson in “Golden Years of Vegas” at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. In 2023, Jordan was part of our Gold Coast tour, performing at Dreamworld and taking part in multiple dance workshops led by industry professionals.

Kamahla Munmai D'Arcy

Kamahla started her journey with Studio 24 at the age of 3 in 2009. Since then, she has trained in all styles of dance including Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical and many more. In 2014, she had the opportunity to join the Comp Squad program, and has been competing solos, duos, trios and troupes for 12 years.

She has also had the opportunity to travel alongside her studio, dancing on a cruise ship in 2019, and participating in the 2023 Gold Coast trip.

In 2018, Kamahla began her teaching journey, where she started assisting recreational classes in the style of Jazz, Hip Hop and Ballet. In 2023, Kamahla began teaching her own classes, and has absolutely adored sharing her love and passion for dance ever since.

Kamahla took a break from teaching in 2025, after getting the opportunity to join a touring cabaret circus, Infamous, as a professional dancer. She danced in Murray Bridge, Canberra, and performed seven shows, six nights a week, at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2025.

At Thornlie SHS, Mica became the ‘Thunder Ohana Dance Captain’ and competed in the Australian Grand Championship several times and even travelled to Melbourne in 2023 and Gold Coast in 2024 to compete, receiving outstanding results.

Also in 2023, Mica took part of our Studio 24 Gold Coast tour, performing at Dreamworld as well as taking part in many high quality workshops held by industry leaders. She also travelled to London and Paris in 2024, where she performed at Disneyland and was able to participate in workshops with one of the Disney crew members.

Mica has been part of Team 24 since 2021 assisting across a variety of classes and is now teaching both Hip Hop and Jazz. She is now also an accredited teacher of Ready Set Acro & Ready Set Ballet & continues to participate in yearly training & development to maintain her accreditation.

Kade Sweeney

Kade was accepted into WAAPA when he was 14 years old but due to his Sate Basketball commitments Kade was unable to accept the offer.

In 2015 Kade moved to Melbourne for two years where he completed a Certificate IV in Dance and Diploma in Musical Theater.

Arielle Jones

Arielle began her dance journey at the age of four with Charlesworth Ballet School, laying the foundation for her classical training. She progressed into full-time study with Youth Ballet WA’s pre-professional program and graduated in 2021. Seeking to broaden her versatility, Arielle pursued theatrical styles at Studio 24 in 2022, before returning to her classical roots in 2024 with the Perth School of Ballet.

A consistent competitor, Kaleigh has performed multiple solos and duos across all styles at dance competitions, earning recognition for her versatility, work ethic, and performance quality. In 2025, she was proudly awarded Student of the Year, acknowledging her dedication, improvement, and positive contribution to her dance community.

Now stepping into the next chapter of her dance journey, Kaleigh is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love for dance with others. Alina Jones

In 2023, Alina was selected to be a part of the Telethon opening number and had the opportunity to learn from other choreographers and dancers from all over Perth.

In 2025, Alina was part of the professional musical production 'Footloose' at Planet Royale and worked with some of Perth's most outstanding dancers, choreographers and stage production team members.

Alina has been part of our incredible Team 24 since 2022 assisting across the Ready Set Dance program and Recreational classes and is very excited to continue her teaching journey with her own classes.
